About us
Precision, quality and passion for vehicle technology – this is what SCC has stood for for over 40 years. SCC Fahrzeugtechnik GmbH was founded on December 27, 2000. Company founder and current managing director Georg Gundel, however, has already been active in tuning and accessories since 1984 – experience that still forms the foundation of our work today.
As specialists in wheel spacers and wheel fastening components, we develop solutions that combine performance, safety and perfect fitment. Our goal is clear: every product must meet the highest standards.
That is why we rely on state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies, strictly tested materials and continuous quality controls. The result is components trusted by workshops, dealers and demanding drivers alike.
With our portfolio, we offer the right solution for almost every vehicle – quickly available, precisely matched and easy to find. In addition to the highest quality standards, we place great value on sophisticated installation and long-lasting performance in everyday use. As a company based in Germany, we combine technical expertise with practical development. Our products are created from decades of experience – always with the ambition to stay one step ahead.
In the 1980s, production vehicles, including the popular Golf GTI, still offered plenty of optimization potential. Interiors, wheels and sound systems were often simple and functional. Tuning made significant technical and visual improvements possible. In December 1984, Georg Gundel turned his hobby into a profession and founded SCC Special Car Center GmbH in Roth. Before long, the technical approval of custom vehicle modifications became a central topic for SCC Special Car Center GmbH.
The GTI meeting, first held in 1982, quickly became the gathering point for the tuning scene throughout the DACH region.
In 1986, SCC exhibited there for the first time and presented a fully customized Golf 1 conversion. The vehicle received a wide-body kit made from sheet metal. For this purpose, the side panels were cut open, widened with metal extensions and welded back together. After several expansions and enlargements of the business premises in Roth, a new branch was opened in Neumarkt/Opf. In the same year, a workshop for the installation of sporty automotive accessories was added in Georgensgmünd.
In 1987, another branch was opened in Ebermannstadt as a franchise operation. The workshop quickly developed into a hub for sporty vehicle conversions and wide-body builds for many different vehicles.
At the beginning of the 1990s, tuning had become part of mainstream culture. Movies such as “Manta Manta” starring Til Schweiger in 1991 focused on the rivalries within the tuning community. The growing popularity of import vehicles such as the Honda Civic, Honda CR-X and Toyota Supra further enriched the tuning scene.
In 1991, larger business premises were opened in Röttenbach. Thanks to a 250 sqm retail area, a large warehouse and an in-house workshop, all business activities could now be combined under one roof. The branches in Roth and Neumarkt were subsequently closed. Even at this stage, wheel spacers and adapters already played a major role as trading products, and SCC had already become one of the leading suppliers in Germany.
Shortly before the turn of the millennium, the next major step followed. In 1996, SCC moved into a newly constructed building complex on Welserstraße 4 in Roth. Through the merger with the bodywork company TEAM GmbH, SCC TEAM GmbH was established. The new location now offered several hundred square meters of retail space, a body shop and a larger workshop. In 1998, the paint shop was replaced by a Honda dealership, which opened in October of the same year in a newly constructed extension. During this period, the manufacturing division for vehicle components continued to grow steadily, leading to the foundation of SCC Fahrzeugtechnik GmbH.
After already creating its own technical approvals for wheel spacers since the early 1990s, SCC launched its first aluminum wheel spacer in 1994 and became a manufacturer itself. Around the turn of the millennium, the importance of wheel spacers and adapters continued to grow, leading to the start of construction work in Georgensgmünd in 2003. Within just a few years, three buildings and a warehouse hall were built on an area of around 7,500 square meters. From this point on, the focus was placed entirely on wheel spacers, adapters and wheel fastening components.
In 2008, Wemar Autozubehör GmbH was acquired. The wholesale company founded by Manfred Werner specializes in the distribution of accessories from renowned brands such as RaidHP, in.pro and MHW. Through the acquisition of Nagelschmidt in 2013, the product range was expanded to include wheel lock systems and has been continuously developed ever since. Thanks to its long-standing close relationship with BBS, Wemar quickly became one of the largest suppliers of accessories and spare parts for BBS wheels.
In 2009, a new high-bay warehouse with a floor area of 625 square meters was built. The building previously used as a warehouse was converted into a production hall. Starting in 2010, multi-piece wheels were manufactured there on several CNC turning and milling machines and sold under the German Diamonds brand. Through the acquisition of Carline, the wheel design portfolio was expanded to include many classic designs.
By 2019, the company employed more than 50 people in the areas of development, sales and shipping of wheel spacers, as well as prototype and custom wheel manufacturing. In order to respond even faster and more efficiently to customer needs in the future, SCC significantly expanded storage capacity in the southern warehouse in 2020.
In 2018, the subsidiaries SCC electromobility GmbH and Gundel Produkt GmbH were founded. While the former develops and sells electric vehicles for short-distance mobility under the “Varaneo” brand, Gundel Produkt GmbH designs high-quality aluminum travel luggage and distributes it directly to end customers.
To meet the growing demands of the market, SCC invested heavily in optimizing its infrastructure. Warehouse areas were modernized, logistics and production processes were digitized and upgraded, and office spaces were gradually renovated. All with the goal of providing every customer with the right wheel-related solution quickly and efficiently.
In March 2023, our SCC Camper Line was launched. With the SCC Camper Line, we offer caravan and motorhome owners wheel spacers ranging from 3 to 60 mm in thickness for four to five different fitments, available in natural silver, silver anodized or black anodized finishes. The Camper Line wheel spacers not only enhance the appearance of the vehicle, but also improve driving performance and provide an additional level of safety.
In December 2024, we celebrated our 40th anniversary together with customers, partners and numerous invited guests at the Essen Motor Show. In a special setting, we looked back on four decades of company history and reflected on the development of our business. The event not only provided the opportunity for many personal conversations and exchanges with long-time companions, but also served as a moment to celebrate this important milestone together and look toward the future.
Since 2025, SCC has increasingly invested in digital processes and the expansion of its infrastructure, while optimized internal workflows, trade show appearances and extraordinary projects with well-known influencers help turn innovative ideas into reality and bring even the most ambitious vehicle projects to life.
Time and again, SCC supports creative vehicle projects and extraordinary custom builds. In 2026, SCC was involved in the well-known “Twingo Train” project by YouTuber Dave, in which an old Renault Twingo was extensively converted into a rail-capable vehicle in order to travel more than 150 kilometers along a disused railway line in Spain. SCC supported the unique project with suitable wheel spacers and technical expertise for the exceptional conversion.
SCC is already working on new projects, modern solutions and exciting vehicle builds. Alongside the continuous development of existing products, innovative concepts and unique collaborations in the field of vehicle technology are also being created. More insights into upcoming projects, new developments and special custom builds will follow soon.
